Medical Microneedling

Over time, the skin develops fine lines, wrinkles and scars on the face and body as part of the natural skin ageing process and various environmental and lifestyle factors. There are lots of skin treatments available to address these concerns.
Medical microneedling is one of the most effective dermal therapies for optimizing skin regeneration. It’s a minimally invasive treatment designed to improve the appearance of acne scarring, stretch marks, fine lines, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and blackheads, to deliver overall skin rejuvenation.

There are 2 types of microneedling. Medical microneedling, which is performed by a licensed healthcare provider, versus cosmetic needling which can be done by an esthetician. Medical microneedling is a much deeper penetration of needle depth resulting in collagen induction therapy. Cosmetic needling is a shallow treatment designed to improve brightness of the skin and product penetration.

How does Medical microneedling work?
Skin Needling uses micro needles on a medical grade pen that is moved over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced punctures on the skin. These micro-punctures go through the skin with minimal damage to the upper epidermal layer, but creates a microscopic, generally painless injury to the deeper dermal layer. The minor injury and bleeding triggers a “wound-healing” response in the skin. This results in increased collagen and elastin production.

Is Skin Needling right for me?
Each person’s skin is different. That’s why we recommend having a consultation before treatment to determine suitability.

Skin Needling can help:

  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Smooth uneven skin tone and pigment
  • Reduce the appearance of scar tissue and stretch marks; and
  • Increase the skin’s natural production of collagen

How long does the Skin Needling treatment take?
Treatment time can range between 30-60 minutes.

What is the recovery time for Needling?
There is minimal down time following Skin Needling treatment. You may experience some redness for a short time after treatment.
You should avoid swimming or strenuous exercises at least for the next 24-48 hours. In addition, you should also avoid using active/exfoliating skincare products for the next 5-7 days after the treatment.

How often should I get Skin Needling treatments?
Each person will vary slightly. On average, 2-4 treatments are necessary to achieve the desired outcome. Needling treatment is suitable for all areas of the body, including the face, neck, back, breasts, decolletage, hips, stomach and hands. The result is permanent collagen and elastin production with even skin tone and texture at a fraction of the cost of laser treatment therapies.
